| ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS |
| |
CCPC assumes that, other factors being equal, there is a direct relationship between the time
a student spends attending a course and the quality of the education received during the course.
Because students are sometimes absent from course sessions, criteria for determining whether attendance
has been sufficient to meet particular course requirements and overall degree minimums are necessary.
As such, two absences are permitted during a modular course and three absences during a semester course.
Unless arrangements have been made previously with the instructor, students that are absent in excess of
these requirements will be administratively withdrawn from the course. Excessive tardiness, more than 30
minutes late for a course, is considered an absence.
Absence, regardless of reason, does not excuse a student from completing all course requirements. The
student is responsible for all assignments and any exams that occurred during their absence. Instructors
may impose penalties for work due during an absence, providing the instructor’s policy is stated in the
course syllabus.
A student may petition for a leave of absence of up to one year. An approved leave of absence secures
the student’s standing in the academic program for the approved period.

| WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURES |
| |
A student drops, withdraws, from a course by de-enrolling from it. The student must petition to drop
a course by submitting a Drop/Withdrawal form to the CCPC admissions office. The petition process ensures
the student’s grades and financial account are accurately maintained. A drop is effective the date it is
received by the CCPC admissions office. A student may drop from an existing enrollment agreement at any
time. The effect on the student’s transcript and financial account will vary depending on the effective
date of the drop. Follow the drop procedures carefully to avoid extra expense and a potentially
detrimental grade.
The student’s transcript will show the courses dropped. The grade “W” is assigned for courses dropped
up to and including the 4th week of instruction for a modular course and up to and including the 8th
week of a semester course. Courses dropped after these times will receive a grade of “F.” Drop refunds
vary depending on the effective date of the petition. (See the
"Refunds" page under the Financial Information section.)

| PROGRAM TERMINATION |
| |
| A student whose status changes to “Inactive” (see Admissions and Registration section of this
catalog for definition of Inactive Status) will be deemed terminated and required to apply for
readmission to return. Be sure to speak with the admissions office before quitting CCPC.
|
| |
| ACADEMIC PROBATION |
| |
| Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. If a student’s
Semester GPA (SGPA) falls below 2.0 and/or the Cumulative GPA (CGPA) is below 2.00, they will be placed
on Academic Probation until their CGPA rises to 2.0 or greater. New students may be admitted in an
Academic Probation status based on prior academic performance.
|
| |
| ACADEMIC DISMISSAL |
| |
A student will suffer Academic Dismissal if any one of the following criteria exists:
- Three successive semesters with a SGPA below 2.0.
- Two successive semesters with a SGPA and CGPA below 2.0.
- One semester with a SGPA below 1.0.
A student may appeal academic dismissal, in writing, to the Academic Appeals Committee based
on extenuating circumstances. The Academic Appeals Committee, whose judgment is final, will
review the case. Generally, if the student is permitted to continue their studies, they will
do so on academic probation.
|
| |
| ACADEMIC REINSTATEMENT |
| |
| Generally, students terminated by academic dismissal will not be reinstated unless the Academic
Appeals Committee, whose judgment is final, is convinced that a review of the case warrants
reinstatement and two semesters have elapsed between the effective date of dismissal and the date
of application for readmission.
