| GRADING SYSTEM |
| |

|
|
|
Grading systems are use to evaluate and record academic achievement. The student must be
officially registered in a course to receive a grade for it.
GRADE POINT AVERAGE
A student’s grade point average (GPA) is the result of dividing
the total grade points earned as listed in the scale below by the number of units attempted. Transfer
grades earned elsewhere will not be used when computing the student’s GPA. CCPC uses the 4-point grading
system, subject to the instructor’s requirements, homework, tests, class participation, attendance and
any make up work to be established by the instructor. These requirements will be clearly articulated in each
course syllabus.

GRADE APPEAL POLICY
To appeal a grade, first ask the instructor
to reconsider the grade based on facts you believe to be relevant. The appeal to the instructor must be
made within 4-weeks of final grade posting. The instructor will notify the Registrar if the grade is to
be changed, stating in writing the revised grade and the reason for the change.
If the student is
not satisfied with the outcome of the student/instructor appeal, they may appeal to the Academic Appeals
Committee in writing within one week of the meeting with the instructor. The committee’s judgment is
final and will be issued within three weeks of receipt. No grade may be contested after 45 days from the
date of posting.
REPEATING A COURSE
A student may repeat a course, but
credit for a course is granted only once. The last grade earned will be recorded on the student’s
transcript and used to compute the GPA.
