BIBLICAL STUDIES:

  Bible:

  BI-201 Old Testament Survey 3 units
  An overview of the Old Testament developing an understanding of its basic structure, organization, unity and historical progression including the major characters, themes, principle events and doctrines.

  BI-202 New Testament Survey 3 units
  A comprehensive introduction to the New Testament, emphasizing its contents, major theological and ethical teachings, structure and historical settings. A survey of the inter-testamental period and history will also be addressed.

  BI-203 Survey of the Gospels 3 units
  An expository review of the four accounts of the history of Jesus is presented. The major theological themes of each account, their differences and their unity will be studied.

  BI-301 Analysis of Genesis 3 units
  An analysis of Genesis including key events such as creation, fall, flood, the nations, and key persons such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph.

  BI-302 Analysis of Acts 3 units
  An analysis of Luke’s account of the early Christian church with transitional passages emphasized. The church, its beginning, message, mission and methods are presented with emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit through the ministries of Peter and Paul.

  BI-303 Analysis of Romans 3 units
  An analysis of Romans emphasizing the major doctrines of sin, justification (salvation by grace through faith), sanctification (the power of God to deliver from the bondage of sin), and the practical application of these doctrines.

  BI-304 Analysis of Daniel 3 units
  An analysis of Daniel, emphasizing the character development and eschatological themes of the Gentile nations and the seventy weeks of Daniel. Attention is given to the literary structure, biblical theology and application to modern-day culture.

  BI-401 Survey of the Pastoral Epistles I 3 units
  An in-depth study of Paul’s letters warning of false teaching, instruction on church administration and worship, character of church leaders and helpers and responsibilities toward the believers.

  BI-402 Survey of the Pastoral Epistles II 3 units
  A continued look at the admonitions of a seasoned servant of God to aspiring ministers.

  BI-403 Inductive Study of Ephesians 3 units
  The application of inductive Bible study methods and tools to discover the truths of Ephesians such as its theme, broad outline and studies of specific words.
Prerequisites: Bible Study Methods and Biblical Interpretation.

  BI-404 Inductive Study of 1 Timothy 3 units
  The application of inductive Bible study methods and tools to discover the truths of 1 Timothy such as its theme, broad outline and studies of specific words.
Prerequisites: Bible Study Methods and Biblical Interpretation.

[Note: A “Survey” is an instructor lead overview of the topic, an “Analysis” is an instructor led analysis of the book, while an “Inductive Study” is an instructor guided student developed analysis of the book.]

  Biblical Languages:

  BL-201 Greek and Hebrew Tools for Bible Study 3 units
  The course equips the English reader to use Greek and Hebrew tools, such as alphabets, lexicons, concordances and elementary grammar definitions in the study of the Bible.

  BL-301 Elementary Greek I 4 units
  A study of the basic elements of Koine Greek, including vocabulary, accidence and syntax. The student will learn to read simple passages in the Greek New Testament. (Full Semester class)

  BL-302 Elementary Greek II 4 units
  A study of the basic elements of Koine Greek, including vocabulary, accidence and syntax. The student will learn to read simple passages in the Greek New Testament. (Full Semester class)

  BL-401 Elementary Hebrew I 4 units
  A study of the basic phonology, morphology and syntax of biblical Hebrew. Selected passages from the Old Testament will be read and translated. (Full Semester class)

  BL-402 Elementary Hebrew II 4 units
  A study of the basic phonology, morphology and syntax of biblical Hebrew. Selected passages from the Old Testament will be read and translated. (Full Semester class)

  History:

  HI-201 History of the Christian Church I 3 units
  A survey of Christianity from Pentecost through the Reformation. Analysis of doctrinal and institutional development of the Church and its impact on theological thinking today.

  HI-201 History of the Christian Church II 3 units
  A survey of Church history from the Reformation to the present. Various radical and reform movements throughout Christianity and the influence of the modern church on secular movements and events.

  HI-301 Christian Missions 3 units
  A history of the expansion of Christianity through the missionary movement, including an analysis of the development, spread and social impact of Christianity as a worldwide religious and social movement. Cross-cultural and strategic dimensions of missions and evangelism are discussed.


Theology:

  TH-201 Biblical Interpretation 3 units
  A detailed study of the development and practice of the principles of biblical interpretation focusing on the literal, grammatical, historical method as contrasted with the allegorical method of interpretation. Includes theory and practical application of the hermeneutic science. Symbols, figures of speech and types are discussed and the relationship of interpretation to application is presented.

  An examination of the Bible including revelation, inspiration, inerrancy, authority, canonicity and preservation.

  TH-301 Theology I – The Triune God 3 units
  An examination of the major doctrines of the Christian faith to include the attributes and nature of God; the Trinity; the deity, person and nature of Christ and the deity, person and nature of the Holy Spirit.

  TH-302 Theology II – Spirit Beings, Man and Sin 3 units
  A continuation of the major doctrines of the Christian faith to include the creation, fall and nature of man, the source, nature and extent of sin, and the consequences of sin on the world. Spirit beings, including Satan, are examined in the light of biblical teaching.

  TH-303 Theology III – Christ and Salvation 3 units
  A continuation of the major doctrines of the Christian faith to include the saving work of Christ giving attention to the meaning of substitutionary atonement, redemption, propitiation, reconciliation, justification, repentance and assurance of salvation. The eternal ministry throughout the ages is examined.

  TH-304 Theology IV – Church and End Times 3 units
  A continuation of the major doctrines of the Christian faith to include the church, the body of Christ, its nature, beginning, membership and purpose. Things yet future are identified and placed in chronological order including the Second Coming of Jesus Christ with an emphasis on the Tribulation, Rapture and Millenium.

  TH-401 Doctrinal Summary 4 units
  A written presentation and defense of a student’s own doctrinal profession, including statements on the major theological areas of consideration. (Two Semester class)
Prerequisites: Biblical Interpretation, Doctrine of the Bible, Theology I-IV.

APPLIED STUDIES:

  Apologetics:

  AP-201 Biblical Apologetics 3 units
  A study and defense of the salient facts of Christianity and supposed contradictions in the biblical text.

  AP-202 World Religions 3 units
  A survey and comparison of the major belief systems of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism. The doctrines, errors, and inadequacies of each religion are compared to the absolute truth of the Scriptures. Strategies to establish a Christian witness to the uniqueness of Christ are developed.

  AP-301 Survey of the Cults 3 units
  After a brief historical survey of each cult, the doctrinal system of each one is studied and refuted from the biblical perspective. Emphasis is placed on Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness and Christian Science, among others.

  AP-302 Crucial Issues of the 21st Century 3 units
  An overview of significant issues confronting the Christian in today’s post-modern society. Areas such as pluralism, uniqueness of Christianity and conflicting worldviews are examined.


  Biblical Counseling:

  BC-201 Marriage and Family 3 units
  A study of basic counseling for married couples applying biblical principles and Scripture including understanding and meeting the God-given emotional needs of one’s spouse and children.

  BC-301 Crisis Counseling 3 units
  A study of the basic anatomy of crisis and the application of biblical principles of intervention and confrontation needed to provide support. Attention is focused on abuse, adolescence, depression, suicide and death.

  BC-401 Biblical Ethics 3 units
  A survey of ethics as related to biblical principles. The student will examine current ethical conflicts in today’s world and prepare appropriate biblical responses.


  Ministry:

  MI-301 Christian Life 3 units
  The Christian life as presented in the New Testament focusing on the theological foundations and spiritual disciplines and how the believer exercises these disciplines to have a more intimate relationship with God.

  MI-302 Spiritual Leadership 3 units
  Principles of spiritual leadership are discovered from the biblical text. Students will develop a personal plan to apply biblical principles and requirements for leadership in ministry.

  MI-401 Worship 3 units
  This course takes a look at one of the most important activities man can undertake and will explore how Christians have worshiped throughout the ages providing a deeper understanding of why Christians worship as they do.

  MI-402 Homiletics 3 units
  The course is designed to help the student understand the principles and practice of preparing a message and its delivery. Research, organization, and file procedures enable the student to prepare for various speaking opportunities in Christian service.

  MI-403 Practical Ministry 3 units
  Focus is on the functional aspects of ministry such as finances, church administration, pastoral care and missions.

  MI-404 Philosophy of Ministry 3 units
  Focus is on ministry as viewed from the pulpit – the call and lifestyle of the minister and loyalty to leadership. Emphasis is on necessary biblical understanding needed to operate successfully in ministry. The class is designed to lay a solid biblical foundation for those desiring to be effective ministers for the Lord.

  MI-450 Pastoral Care 3 units
  This course takes a look at the practical aspects of tending to the flock. It includes the aspects of biblical counseling, visiting the sick, and other on-going ministries the pastor is responsible for in service to the congregation.

  MI-460 Pastoral Practicum 3 units
  Under the supervision of a pastor, the student will be involved in an on-going ministry directly associated with a church with a minimum of six hours of service a week.

  MI-470 Pastoral Internship 5 units
  This full semester course is designed for the student that is called into pastoral ministry. The student will perform the functions of an assistant pastor in matters of counseling, visitation, teaching and other responsibilities held by a member of a church pastoral staff.

  General Studies:

  English

  EN-101 English Composition I 3 units
  Fundamentals of English grammar, sentence structure, and paragraph development required for the writing process. Critical thinking skills needed for life and academic success are emphasized.

  EN-102 English Composition II 3 units
  Further development of clear writing including elements of literary analysis and research are explored.

  Social Sciences

  ED-201 Inductive Study Methods 3 units
  A practical examination of study methodologies including the use of library and Bible study tools. The student learns how to use the inductive procedure in studying Bible books and theology.

  SS-201 Cultural Anthropology 3 units
  Investigates the race, culture, economics, social groups, religion, language and arts of primitive and modern western peoples.

  Natural Sciences

  MA-101 Mathematics of General Education 3 units
  A survey course that meets the minimum requirements for mathematics.

  NS-201 Science and the Bible 3 units
  Systematized knowledge of the natural world studied in the light of the inspiration of the Bible, showing its complete harmony with science.

 
Discipleship:

The following courses are offered through CCPC for the personal growth and enrichment of the individual to help integrate biblical principles into the personal, social and professional areas of their lives. They are open to all and do not require official application or enrollment at CCPC. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those individuals successfully completing each course of study.

  Christian Foundation Non-Credit
  The course identifies the foundational truths revealed in the Bible concerning Jesus Christ to enable the believer to grow in faith and enter into a life changing relationship with Him.

  Christian Growth Non-Credit
  Christian Growth is a series of courses designed to promote elements in the believer’s life that lead to growth and maturity, including the importance of prayer, Bible study, ministry involvement, tithing and family / personal relationships. Each course is eight (8) weeks. The courses are:
